Music is an important part of any movement. It unites the people. It uplifts the people. It energizes the people. Imagine the civil rights movement without "We Shall Overcome" or the anti-war movement without "Blowin' in the Wind ". In fact, it was the power of these songs to bring people together that inspired a set of original Sharing Jerusalem songs, created especially for this campaign and this conflict. Working from the same collaborative, grass-roots premise that forms the foundation of the Sharing Jerusalem campaign, a set of songs has arisen from the shared efforts of professional musicians and regular folks. Fre AtLast, a drummer and singer committed to nonviolence, created the Sharing Jerusalem theme song - a powerful and evocative melody with a combination of her words and those of the Sharing Jerusalem Music Collaborative. She and Victoria Christgau, a vocalist and long-time nonviolence activist, recorded this song in the fall of 2006 with a group of outstanding musicians they gathered together. The "Sharing Jerusalem" theme song is available in four languages and two instrumental versions, either on CD or click here to download as an MP3 file. In addition, we have a set of rousing protest songs that you can download and use. Click the links below to listen to MP3 files of each version:
